Bitminter has been a project that has been ongoing for years. First started back in 2010, Bitminter was a text-based mining client that required users to run it from the command line. Bitminter has grown over time into much more than just a mining program; it also serves as a mining pool with every function you’d expect from one.

Their mining rig has been up for 10 years and has mined 208,232 BTC (new coins + transaction fees) in its lifetime so far. It generated 6487 blocks that are part of today's Bitcoin blockchain. Additionally, over the years, it has mined 1755 blocks before the first halving, creating 87750 new bitcoins (50 per block), 4671 more blocks before the second halving, creating 116775 new bitcoins (25 per block), and 61 more blocks before the third halving, creating 762.5 new bitcoins (12.5 per block). We have minted 205,287.5 new bitcoins in total, which amounts to 0.978% of all the bitcoins that will ever be minted by miners worldwide!

Bitminter was a mining pool for Bitcoin. It gave its users the ability to easily mine Bitcoin on their computers and make money for the coins they found. Bitminter was around for a long time, allowing its users to find a lot of bitcoin in that time. It finally closed in 2021, after helping many bitcoin miners get started with their own bitcoin mining efforts.
