Introduction
Goons of Balatroon (GOB) is a gaming universe that empowers players with dynamic digital assets used in risk-based gameplay and offers real-yield rewards through a DAO treasury model.
What is Balatroon?
A fusion of gaming innovation, blockchain utility, and wacky meme culture is what defines the world of Balatroon. Within this world, GOB showcases the next-gen of community building by leveraging crypto ideologies on top of notable game titles, a world for gamers and crypto-enthusiasts alike.
Digital assets power the heart of this world, each serving a specific purpose. They include:
: governs the underlying economy and gives token holders transparent voting power and access to a basket of real-yield rewards.
: used as the utility token to wager in games and support the RiskFi model of the ecosystem. The DAO uses inflows generated by the token to support its real-yield basket.
: functional and dynamic in-game assets that control the game economy and gameplay performance.
Gaming Project
Our gaming mission is to replicate the successes of traditional games while enhancing the in-game economies with cutting-edge crypto technologies.
The games are free-to-play but offer a crypto-native mode where players wager against each other in a battle of skill - a model we call RiskFi.
GOB DAO
Whether you are a gamer or not, GOB offers something for all. The main value injection in our ecosystem comes from the games, while value distribution happens via the DAO treasury model.
Holders of the $GOB token (our primary cryptocurrency) are eligible to receive real-yield rewards from various revenue sources and can vote on community proposals that shape the project's future.
Games
GOB currently has two games in development - an and a PvP strategy game in early stage development.
The GOB Trading Card Game (TCG)
Our flagship gaming product is a trading card game where players battle each other with 300 wacky and quirky cards. The game is available on desktop web browsers and will soon release on native mobile apps (iOS & Android). It is free-to-play for all, with a game mode in development where players wager on a winner-takes-all game of skill.
The humorous nature of the cards is very much a reflection of the loose and fun nature of the Balatroon fantasy universe. Deck optimization is a critical part of the gameplay as players discover how to channel their best strategies using their cards.
Balatroon Blitz
Our follow-up game is a strategy game called Balatroon Blitz, available on desktop web browsers upon release. Players battle each other directly with their Goons characters. The Goons have a core set of stats that can be altered using items looted from the World of Balatroon. Depending on the build and setup, each Goon will enter a battle with a unique strategy to determine its success or failure.
Governance
Only $GOB holders on Ethereum and Arbitrum are eligible to vote on ecosystem proposals while tapping into the real-yield basket.
Snapshot Voting
As part of our commitment to turn $GOB into a governance-focused token, we have integrated its ERC20 smart contract with Snapshot. Snapshot is an off-chain voting platform allowing communities to vote on ecosystem-related proposals easily and without gas fees. We created a space where the community can submit project proposals and vote on them with their $GOB tokens.
As the project evolves, we plan to use this space to get community approval for any ecosystem changes that could directly impact the $GOB token's value. Both the GOB team and the community can initiate proposals. The space will have web3-centric proposals only and will not impact game development. All $GOB holders can participate in the governance voting.
Please join our Snapshot space here:
Treasury
Part of our mission, in empowering stakeholders of the GOB ecosystem, is giving $GOB token holders more sustainable, tangible value through real-yield. Real-yield is generated from various ecosystem revenue sources and does not rely on token emissions. In Q2 of 2023, holders will start getting access to several real-yield sources.
One of the aforementioned revenue sources comes from community-based investments. All investment decisions pass through a rigorous approval process. The Council, initially the founding team members, will be elected by the community to help with all future investment decisions. The team aims to build and facilitate the project's growth but ultimately hand over the future direction to the community involved and the council elected.
$GOB token holders will access the real-yield basket of rewards through a GOB DAO finance dApp, where all the data and information on treasury investments will be accessible.
Getting Started
The Goons of Balatroon Trading Card Game is in the open beta stage and undergoing regular improvements. The game is free-to-play, and there are no requirements to start playing today!
Players can access the game after first registering an account.
What are the gameplay rules?
A comprehensive guide is available that outlines all the basic gameplay rules to kick off your adventure!
How to start a battle?
Once logged in, players can choose between two ranked game modes. Constructed mode allows players to bring their pre-built deck into battle, while in random mode, players start a match with a random deck created from all the cards available in the active card pool.
Alternatively, a player can challenge a friend directly to battle. However, the match will be considered casual and not count toward your rank.
How to improve my constructed deck?
New players can improve their constructed deck by obtaining Goon Card NFTs in one of two ways:
Purchase a card pack from the official page and redeem it using the page. Each pack from the store contains 5 random Goon Cards.
Purchase a specific card from another player using an Immutable X marketplace:
(recommended)
What are the rewards?
All players with at least 1 completed match get ranked in the . The top 200 players with at least one win all get NFT-based rewards. For more information regarding prizes, visit .
Cards
Genesis is the first collection series set of the Goon Cards. The series contains 260 unique collectible card NFTs with a total supply of 394,000 digital prints. Additionally, there are 40 core non-collectible cards.
The complete card list can be viewed .
Non-Collectible Cards
Non-collectible cards are the core starting cards for all players. They help onboard new players to the game and introduce gameplay basics. As the name suggests, players cannot collect or trade these cards.
Non-collectible cards are visually distinguished by the absence of the rarity gemstone. The rarity property naturally doesn't exist for such cards.
Collectible NFT Cards
Collectible cards are NFT cards that players, collectors, and speculators can buy, sell, and trade. Each card is assigned a fixed number of prints that will never increase. The higher the rarity, the lower the print number. Players have full ownership of their cards and can use them in-game or trade them in the marketplace.
The NFT cards exist on Immutable X, a layer-2 blockchain for NFTs on Ethereum.
Card Release Status
Cards are being developed and released incrementally, so not all of them are currently available for gameplay. To see which cards are available in-game, visit the page and utilize the Availability filter.
How to purchase Goon Cards?
Players can obtain Goon card NFTs in one of two ways:
Purchase a card pack from the official page and then redeem it using the page. Each pack from the store contains 5 random goon cards.
Purchase a specific card from another player using an Immutable X marketplace:

Rarity
Rarity is a measure of the quality and scarcity of a card. The higher the card rarity, the lower the supply, the harder to find it, and the more powerful it is. Only collectible NFT cards hold this property.
There are 4 rarities: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. The rarity is visually distinguishable on the card through a colored gemstone at the bottom of the card's image.

Edition
A collectible card exists in both a regular and a shiny edition. The difference between the two editions is purely aesthetic - all regular cards have the base frame design, while all shiny cards feature a shiny frame variation. There is no difference in gameplay or functionality, and the card will only visually look different on the battlefield.
Shiny cards are the rarer version of the card and have a greater collectible value due to how hard it is to find them. Players will want to collect them and show them off on the battlefield for clout points!
Statistics
In total, there are 389,483 regular cards and 4,517 shiny cards. The breakdown per rarity is as follows:

Type
Cards come in three different types: Creatures, Spells, and Mysteries.
Creatures
Creature cards are the foot soldiers of your deck. They protect your avatar, have powerful effects, and do most of the damage it will take to defeat your opponent. Creature cards can be recognized by two stats:
Attack: a number displayed on a yellow circle in the top left corner.
Health: a number displayed on a red circle in the top right corner.
Spells
Spell cards are played from the and for an instant effect They can power up your cards or damage your opponent’s avatar and creatures, as well as affect them in ways that could turn the tide of battle.
Mysteries
Mystery cards are a type of spell card with a delayed effect. These cards are played from the hand and placed face down on the battlefield, waiting to be activated upon specific battlefield conditions or actions.
Element
Elements define the class of the card. Each class channels different gameplay strategies and creates a unique meta around the deck. For example, electric cards usually have abilities that inflict area-of-effect damage, while fire cards usually inflict single high-value damage.
There are 5 elements: Neutral, Water, Earth, Fire, and Electricity. A symbol at the top and a dedicated frame distinguish the card's element.
Elemental Synergy
Many creature abilities and spells have effects that are dependent on elements. For example:
Upon death, damages all non-neutral creatures on the battlefield
Casting gives a creature +1/+1 based on the number of earth cards in hand.
Casting gives a creature +3/+3 only if it is electrical. Otherwise, it inflicts 3 damage.
Tile Effect
When a creature is placed on the battlefield tile, the tile automatically transforms into the creature's element. Such tile effects can create further elemental synergy with spells and creature abilities:
When placed on the battlefield, doubles the attack of all creatures on water tiles until the end of the turn.
When placed on the battlefield, gives all creatures on water tiles +2 attack.
After an opponent plays a creature, is activated and deals damage to it equal to the number of electric tiles in play.
Ability
Abilities are special effects, powers, or behaviors found on cards. A keyword usually indicates them on the card with bold text. The TCG has a wide range of abilities that get triggered in response to certain events in-game.
Warcry
Warcry is a creature ability that activates immediately upon the card coming into play. This is the most common card ability in the game, but it offers a huge variety of effects.
Last Breath
Opposite to Warcry, Last Breath is a creature ability that activates immediately upon the card leaving play. This means that the ability gets triggered upon the creature's death.
Insult
Insult is a creature ability that forces the opponent to attack it first before anything else. If an enemy creature with insult is on the board, you cannot attack the enemy’s avatar until this creature is destroyed.
Barrier
Barrier is a creature ability that protects the creature from a single damage hit. Once this ability is activated, the first damage the creature suffers is nulled, and the barrier disappears afterward. It is only a one-time protective shield.
Ensnare
Ensnare is a creature ability that freezes an enemy creature upon dealing damage. When a creature with ensnare deals damage to another creature, it ensnares it for 1 turn. An ensnared creature cannot attack the following turn.
MIA
MIA is a creature ability that puts the creature in a dormant state when it is placed on the battlefield. During a dormant state, the creature cannot attack, receive damage, or be targeted and needs to wait a specific number of turns before waking up. Upon waking up, the card gets activated as it is placed from the hand and into the battlefield.
Leech
Leech is a creature ability that heals the friendly avatar when it deals damage. The healing amount is equal to the damage inflicted.
Untouchable
Untouchable is an ability that gives immunity to a character until the end of the turn. Once activated, the creature or avatar cannot receive any damage for 1 turn.
Censor
Censor is a creature ability that targets another creature and removes all its abilities. Any active or untriggered abilities are nulled while the ATK/HP stats remain unchanged.
Mystery
Mystery is a type of spell card with a delayed, hidden effect, which only occurs when a specific event occurs. When cast, the opponent does not know the nature of the card until it is activated.

Packs
Goon Pack NFTs are consumable items that serve a purpose similar to loot boxes. Players can "redeem" a pack they own by opening it and receiving a randomized selection of collectible Goon Cards.
The 394,000 Genesis cards can only be minted through Genesis packs. There are 110,800 packs split between two types:
Regular Packs: bought from the store page and contain 5 cards.
Bonus Packs: given away through promotional initiatives and contain only 1 card.

Pack Opening Mechanics
Once a Genesis pack NFT is obtained, it can be "opened" using the page. As users select their pack of interest and interact with the Wizard to open it, an authorization notification will appear to burn the pack.
Burning a digital asset means permanently removing it from circulation. One way to do this is by sending the asset to an unspendable address that no one can access. It is important to remove an opened pack from circulation to avoid its resale to unsuspecting buyers who could think that it is still redeemable for cards. The burn action is a way to avoid such marketplace confusion.
Once the user authorizes the burn, the system will randomly mint card(s) to the user's wallet.
Card Reveal Rules
The card's rarity determines the probability of getting it in a pack. More on this . However, a few additional rules are applied to the regular Genesis pack reveal:
Maximum 3 rare cards
Maximum 1 epic card
Maximum 1 legendary card
Maximum 1 shiny Card
How to Purchase Goon Packs?
Players can obtain Goon pack NFTs in one of two ways:
Purchase from the official page.
Purchase a pack from another player using an Immutable X marketplace:

Game Modes
Players can start a ranked match that will count towards their leaderboard ranking via either constructed or random mode. The matchmaking system groups players from both game modes into a single pool, so players in constructed mode could battle those from random mode and vice versa.
Casual games can alternatively be initiated via Challenge a Friend game mode.
Constructed Mode
Constructed allows players to bring their pre-built 30-card deck into battle. All players automatically receive a randomly generated 30-card deck, which they can instantly bring to battle. However, players can freely modify the deck or create new ones with different strategies.
Random Mode
Random mode is a way for players to get familiar with the game and get a taste of all the cards in the ecosystem. In this mode, players get a random deck of cards from all the cards available in the active card pool. Since getting any card has an equal chance, the generated deck can often be misbalanced.
Challenge a Friend
Players can add friends to the list using the Friends Tab and invite them into a match. Battles in this mode do not count toward ranking and are considered casual matches.
Decks
For constructed mode, a card deck must be ready before the battle. There are several rules to deck creation:
A deck must have exactly 30 cards.
There could be only 1 copy of each card in a deck.
The deck must not consist of cards unavailable yet for gameplay (see info box below).
All new players automatically get a randomly generated deck from the free 40-core card set. Players can immediately jump into battle with it or modify it with other cards they own.
The game has 300 cards, but some are not released yet for gameplay due to pending development. To see which cards are available in-game, visit the page and utilize the Availability filter.
Matchmaking
The matchmaking system in the current beta release is casual, meaning the player's rank isn't a factor in deciding who they will match against. There is an equal chance to match any player in the queue. Furthermore, players with random and constructed decks are not segregated and can battle each other.
Matchmaking v2
Once the game's player base grows to a certain point, a new matchmaking system will be introduced that will work as follows:
Players will be ranked based on a modified version of the ELO rating system. Matchmaking will ensure that players with similar skill levels will always match each other.
Constructed and random game modes will be segregated into their own player pools. Players with constructed decks will only play against other constructed decks, and random decks will similarly only match with other random decks.
Rewards
The main way to earn through the TCG is by winning games in ranked mode and moving up the leaderboard.
Leaderboard
The ranks players who completed at least one game in constructed or random mode. The ranking is based on skill points accumulated by winning games. A win gives a player 2 points, while losses do not affect the player's score.
Seasons
Ranked seasons run for 10 days. At the end of each season, prizes are given out to players based on their leaderboard positions after a cheating audit is completed. Afterwards, all players go through a stat reset to kick off the new season. This means everyone starts equally in the new season and must re-earn their leaderboard spots.
Prizes
The top 200 players with at least one win all get NFT-based rewards. Players without wins are not eligible for rewards. The prize breakdown is as follows:

Getting Started
Balatroon Blitz is currently at an early game development stage. All information posted about the game is subject to change at any time without notice. Use it only as a rough guide of what to expect from any future releases.
Balatroon Blitz is an autobattler strategy game in early-stage development. Players directly battle each other in risk-based gameplay to earn rewards. It is a game with winners and losers, and rewards are redistributed from players with a poor gameplay strategy to those with a superior one.
What is risk-based gameplay?
The premise of is that players must risk a wager sum before entering a match. The winner of the match then takes the spoils from the loser, creating a zero-sum game. Match rewards are always exchanged directly between risk-willing game participants rather than having them generated from thin air. This creates a level of sustainability that promises a long-term vision for the game. Thus, the gameplay has an ROI component that players always want to maximize.
How does the gameplay work?
Players enter automated combat-style matches with their Goon Avatars. The result of the match is determined based on the characters' stats. Each Goon has a defined core set of stats that can be upgraded using equipment items. However, each build has its strengths and weakness, and players must balance the stats to optimize the character's performance in combat.
What are my Goon Avatar's baseline attributes?
Each Goon's baseline attributes will be embedded into the NFT's metadata. Once released, players can visit any NFT marketplace on Ethereum to view their avatar's stats.
How do I obtain items from my Goon Bod?
Each Goon Bod comes with a set of traits that can be minted into individual NFTs using the . The Factory will be extended with a new feature allowing you to burn your Bod and, in return, receive the associated items.
How do I loot items?
Items can be found in many places, across the world of Balatroon. Players can loot specific land terrains and randomly receive items. A platform will be created to facilitate looting and distribute fees to landowners who lock their land.
What are the benefits of locking my land?
Landowners can lock their land while keeping the NFT in self-custody. By doing so, they facilitate the generation of resources into the ecosystem and receive rewards from the following sources:
A one-time mint of its associated relic and creature items.
Rewards from .
Rewards from .
Locked landmarks receive rewards only from resource mining, albeit at a higher rate than regular parcels.
Goon Avatars
Goon Avatars are the main playable characters in the game and, during the initial experimental release, will be the only way to access the game. In later game stages, partner collections and free players can also participate in the game.
determine the combat archetypes available to players. Character type determines the race, while the fur trait determines the character class. The two categories are combined to define the character's baseline array of .
Various modify these baseline attributes, with stat bonuses. Rarer traits are highly coveted as they provide more powerful and unique bonuses to the character's baseline. However, trait rarity only defines a small portion of the character's overall attribute power and potential performance in battles. play a significant role in enhancing the character's attributes and establishing game-winning strategies.
Common Goons can therefore be just as capable as the rarer Goons to become a top performer and achieve a positive ROI, in the game's risk-based model.
NFT Metadata
Goons NFTs come with two types of metadata properties that are viewable in NFT marketplaces:
Traits: Descriptive categories that visually represent the appearance of the character. Each trait uniquely modifies the avatar's attributes.
Attributes: Numerical categories that define the baseline attribute levels of the character.
Only traits are currently available for viewing, while the attributes will be added to the NFT metadata in early Q2, 2023.
Races & Classes
Each Goon is classified into a Balatroonian race based on its character type. The only two races available to players right now are Bulls and Bears, while future expansions promise to bring new characters to the universe.
The fur trait further breaks down the race into classes and defines the avatar's rarity. The rarer the fur and thus the class, the more powerful and unique its baseline attributes.
21 fur classes are classified into 4 rarity levels.

Attributes
Attributes are the natural, pre-defined characteristics that govern the baseline gameplay performance of the Goon Avatars. All Goons come with predefined core attribute levels inherited from their class and traits. They combine together with to define the character's base core gameplay stats.
6 key attributes are used to define the character's capabilities in battle. They are Vitality, Strength, Toughness, Dexterity, Agility, and Luck.
Vitality (VIT)
Vitality determines the character's resistance to damage and death. It directly increases the character's maximum health.
Strength (STR)
Strength determines the damage the character can inflict with a weapon. For example, a strength of 80 means the avatar has a baseline of 80 damage when it attacks before any modifiers are calculated.
Toughness (TGH)
Toughness improves the character's ability to withstand damage. It directly increases the armor stat. For example, if an avatar receives 80 damage but has a toughness of 20, it would only take 60 damage. Defense cannot completely block an attack, so the minimum attack received is always 1.
Dexterity (DEX)
Dexterity determines the chance of a weapon landing an attack. The attribute works with the weapon's accuracy stat to control the chance of a successful hit or miss in combat.
Agility (AGI)
Agility determines the chance of successfully dodging an enemy attack. The stat is calculated only on attacks that would successfully hit an Avatar.
Luck (LCK)
Luck is a chance modifier that impacts attack accuracy, dodge ability, and critical hit chance.
Traits
Goon Avatars are distinguished through 9 traits that make up their visual appearance in battle. The traits include Fur, Mouth, Eyes, Clothing, Hat, Chain, Earring, Nosering, and Horns. The horns trait is the only trait uniquely applicable to Bulls, while everything else is common for both Bulls and Bears.
Avatar traits are predefined and cannot be changed. They give the character attribute bonuses that enhances its baseline performance in battle. Depending on the nature of the trait, it could affect single or multiple stats in both positive and negative ways.
A player's combat strategy could be fundamentally tied to the set of traits that their character comes with.
Items
Items are in-game objects that players collect to assist their gameplay progress and battle performance.
Types
There are 3 item types in Balatroon Blitz:
Equipment: a wearable item that modifies the character and provides stat bonuses and unique abilities. They're vital in giving all characters a fighting chance in battle and creating a strategic layer to combat style. Each item has its own set of unique stat bonuses that, when equipped, are added to the baseline stats of the Avatar.
Resources: a consumable item that facilitates in-game activities such as bribing and crafting. Resources are depleted from the inventory as they are used.
Blueprints: a key item that unlocks crafting capabilities.
Inventory
The inventory is a place to view collected items such as equipment, resources, and blueprints. It is also where players can equip items into any of the 6 available item slots that enhance their character in battle.
Acquisition
Items can be directly acquired through the following activities:
Burn Bods in the and receive items in return.
Loot items from the .
Craft items using .
Purchase from Balatroon marketplaces.
Players can also choose to purchase items from other players on secondary markets.
Equipment
Equipment is classified as wearable items that modify character stats and provide special effects in battle. Equipment is categorized by the attribute slot to which it belongs. There are 6 available item slots in the inventory that are used to enhance your character: Legs, Feet, Waist, Accessory Hand, Weapon Hand, and Companion.
Legs, Feet, and Waist Slots
Legs, Feet, and Waist make up the wearable equipment slots in Balatroon Blitz. They grant stat bonuses and status effects during combat. Avatars start with no items equipped, but users can acquire them, for free, through the .
Accessory Hand Slot
Accessories are items that bestow a variety of special effects during battle. Players can use them to boost various stats or utilize them during combat for immediate and/or temporary effects. Some accessories can act as battle consumables, usable only once during each match played.
Weapon Hand Slot
Weapons are offensive items that are used to deal damage to opponents. They are critical in defining a character's build and attack strategy. Weapons come with a set of stats that combine with the avatar in the following way:
Damage (DMG): combines with Strength.
Accuracy (ACC): combines with Dexterity.
Weight (WGT): combines with Agility.
Critical Damage (CRT DMG): an attack multiplier dependent on Critical Hit.
Weapons can have optional, chance-based Status Effects that can inflict extra/special damage.
Companion Slot
Companions are friendly creatures that assist players in combat in exchange for a bribe paid in resources. They boast similar attributes as the Goon Avatars and can dramatically change the combat dynamics through their unique qualities. These qualities include absorbing enemy attacks, regenerating avatar health, boosting avatar stats, disabling an enemy attribute slot, and more.
Companions do not need to be defeated to win the game.
Resources
Resources are consumable items used to craft and bribe . They are automatically mined from locked land and become available for direct purchase in Balatroon marketplaces. It is a scarce item whose availability and price depend upon the total daily production of the world's locked land.
Crafting Blueprints
Blueprints enable players to craft specific items using resources. They come with a recipe indicating the amount and type of resources needed to craft an item. Once a blueprint is crafted, the resources are depleted and removed from the player's inventory, and in return, a new item NFT is received.
Bribing Companions
Players can recruit companions to assist them in battle. However, the companion will require a bribe, paid in resources, to join the match. Each companion will request payment for different resources, and once provided, the resources are depleted and removed from the player's inventory. Players can pay in advance for multiple battles, and companions will become inactive once this battle allocation is exhausted.
Blueprints
Blueprints are key items that unlock a formula for crafting specific items using resources. Players can only craft items while owning blueprints, which guide the player to the type of resources and the amounts required to execute the crafting process. They can be found by looting land.
The blueprint rarity coincides with the resulting item rarity. There are 4 blueprint rarities: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary.
Goon Factory
Mint Body UI
The is a tool that allows players to enhance and extend the Goon Avatars. The Goon characters are avatar representations that only showcase the upper body portion of the Goon. The Factory is a place where owners can view the full-body version of their Goon, choose body traits for it, and receive a new NFT for them that is called a Goon Bod.
The next stage for the Goon Factory is integrating a new feature that will allow players to extract and mint the traits of the Goon Bod into new functional NFT . The minting process will occur on Arbitrum and require players to remove the Goon Bod from circulation by burning it.
The Goon Factory features are listed below.
Mint Body
Each Goons NFT is eligible to mint a single Goon Bod. This means that only 9,696 Goon Bods can ever exist because this is the number of Goons NFTs in existence.
Users can select an eligible avatar using the Mint Body function, customize a full-body version, and mint up to 5 traits into a Goon Bod NFT.
View Body
Due to the interoperable nature of Goon Bods, they can only be combined and viewed with Goon Avatars using the View Body function. To do so, choose a Goon Avatar and a Goon Bod from the list to visualize them together. Only NFTs that you own will be displayed. Mix and match them however you wish and export the resulting image.
Eligibility Checker
Goon Avatars can mint only 1 Goon Bod, and users can check if their avatar is eligible to mint a Bod using the Eligibility Checker function. The checker works by inputting the associated Goon ID, and users can find this ID by visiting the page.
(Coming Soon)
Goon Bods contain a set of body traits that can be converted into individual item NFTs. These items play an important role in the Balatroon Blitz game and will live on the Arbitrum network.
Converting a set of traits into items can only occur once, so removing the Bod from circulation during conversion is important to avoid marketplace confusion. This would require the user to burn their Bod to receive the items. The Item Conversion functionality will facilitate this process.
This functionality is currently in development and will be released in early Q2 2023.
Inventory (Coming Soon)
The Inventory will be a place to display the collection of items that the player owns. It will display the 6 available item categories and the range of items that are associated with them.
Goon Bods
The launch of the Goon Factory coincided with the launch of a secondary NFT collection in the GOB ecosystem called Goon Bods.
Through the Factory, each Goons NFT will exclusively allow its owner to mint a single Goon Bod NFT. The new NFT will be composed of a set of up to 5 body traits. It is important to note that any given set of body traits is not exclusive to one Goon and can be combined with any of the original 9,696 Goon Avatars. This means they can be collected, traded, and exchanged freely in any NFT marketplace.
One can think of the body traits as a customizable airdrop for Goon Avatar holders because most traits are free.
Minting Eligibility
The Eligibility Checker in the Goon Factory is the main way to check if a specific Goon is eligible to mint a Bod. However, a metadata field called Bod Claim Status exists for each Goon, outlining its eligibility. Visit any NFT marketplace, such as OpenSea, and look for this attribute with either a Claim or Unclaimed status. Users can also filter using this attribute and fetch all Goon Avatars with Unclaimed stats, for example.
Traits
Goon owners can choose from over 100 traits to build their avatar's body. The traits can then be converted into functional items in the Balatroon Blitz game. The body will have five-category traits, and at least 1 body trait must be chosen to mint the NFT successfully. The trait categories are:
Bottoms
Footwear
Belt
Weapon
Accessory
Each trait will have an assigned rarity level and maximum supply. Depending on the demand for each trait, the final supply count of a given trait can meet the maximum or range anywhere below it.
Rarity Levels
The rarity level of a trait is determined by its maximum supply. However, the final supply of a trait doesn't have to match its maximum supply. It depends on the minting demand and could meet the maximum or range below it. There are 15 rarity levels:

Free vs Premium
All traits with a maximum supply above 100 are free, and any traits with a maximum supply of 100 or below will have a premium cost attached to them. Premium traits have a rarity level between 1 to 5.
Premium traits offer players unique mechanics, stat boosts, and advantages in battle, making them extremely powerful compared to free traits.
Artwork Representation
Tokenizing the body traits and turning them into an NFT naturally means that the contents of the NFT become tradable. The ownership of the body traits can then be transferred from one Goon holder to another or even a non-Goon holder. As a result, no specific set of body traits can be associated with a specific Goon. Instead, they must be neutral and independent from any Goon when it comes to their artistic representation. As a result, the body traits will not visually appear on a Goon when viewed on marketplaces such as OpenSea. Instead, generic mannequins are used as a placeholder to carry and visualize the traits.
Due to the above, Goons and Goon Bodies can be combined and viewed using the Goon Factory or the .
Item Conversion
Goon Bods are made out of a set of traits that always co-exist together in a single NFT. Introducing a functional layer to the traits creates a new dynamic that paves the way to isolating the traits into individual NFTs. Converting a set of traits into individual items is the next logical step because gamers and collectors who seek a specific item shouldn't need to purchase a whole set with other undesired items. It helps isolate the uniqueness of each item, visibly display it to the community and simplify the usability of the .
Conversion Process
Converting a set of traits into items can only occur once through a burning mechanism. Burning an NFT is the equivalent of destroying it. One way to do this is by sending the asset to an inaccessible address that no one controls.
As a result, the process is one-directional and will remove the user's Bod from circulation. In exchange, the user will receive the items associated with the Bod.
Arbitrum
The items will be exclusively minted on the Arbitrum network as part of our initiative to migrate our game ecosystem there. This means that although the burning authorization happens on Ethereum, the items will be automatically minted on Arbitrum and into the same wallet that contained the Bod.
World of Balatroon
Balatroon is a peninsula divided into 12 unique terrains containing 9,696 land parcel NFTs. Terrains are identified by distinctive features and are home to many unique creatures, relics, and resources. A level system accompanies the terrains that affect aesthetics, resource production, and rewards.
The land NFTs come with an important, lockable feature. Instead of being transferred to a smart contract, the NFT can remain in self-custody but remain locked. While the NFT is locked, its transfer is prohibited, and the parcel is eligible for several rewards:
A one-time mint of its associated relic and creature items.
Rewards from .
Rewards from .
Rewards from crafting.
The land properties are listed below.
Terrain
Lands are associated with one of the 12 terrains and have a 3-tier leveling system. The higher the terrain level, the more resources and rewards it generates through its locking mechanism.
Creature
Land creatures act as the Goon Avatar's friendly . There are 4 creature rarities: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary. Each terrain has its native creatures that cannot be found anywhere else. Every parcel contains a creature.
Relic
Relics are powerful items with special effects that can be equipped into any of the Goon Avatar's inventory slots, except for the companion slot, which is exclusively reserved for creatures. There are 4 relic rarities: Common, Rare, Epic, and Legendary.
Resources
Resources are crafting materials used to create items and pay for companion bribes. They are mined through locked land and can be bought through landmarks. Landowners control the availability and daily production of resources. The more land is locked, the higher the daily production. Each parcel's daily production depends on its terrain and resource levels. Demand and supply forces are applied against resources to determine their price.
Landmark
Landmarks act as the marketplace for resources. They facilitate the sale of resources to players and receive rewards from the fees generated by players purchasing resources. The reward is calculated only on resources mined from the landmark's native terrain. Only 2 landmarks appear on each terrain, and the rewards are equally shared between them.
Looting Land
Players can pay a fee and loot from 1 of the 12 terrains and randomly discover 3 items native to it. However, players can only choose to mint 1 item, while the remaining 2 items can be minted for an additional fee. Any unminted items are then discarded.
Lootable Items
The following lootable items can be found:
Relics: inventory items that fit into the legs, feet, waist, accessory Hand, or weapon hand slots.
Creature: inventory items that fit into the companion slot.
Blueprints: key items used to craft inventory items.
Fee Sharing
Only locked land NFTs are eligible to receive a share of fees from all looting activities on their associated terrain. The reward amount will depend on several factors:
The total number of land NFTs locked.
The total fees generated.
The land's terrain level.
Resource Mining
Resources are consumable items mined from land and available for purchase on marketplaces. It is a scarce item whose availability depends on the total daily production of the world's locked land.
Players can purchase the accumulated resources for two purposes:
Craft
Bribe
Daily Production
The total daily production of a given resource depends on the sum of daily production from all locked parcels that contain the resource in question. At the same time, each parcel's individual daily production depends on its terrain and resource levels.
Fee Sharing
A portion of the fees used to purchase each resource gets distributed daily back to the locked lands that generated it. The daily reward amount for a given resource will depend on the following formula:
For a given day and resource:
Parcel Reward = Total Reward * Parcel Share
where:
Total Reward = Total Fees Generated * Total Landowner % Share
Parcel Share = Amount Generated / Total Amount Generated
Tokenization
Resources are mined as ERC20 tokens and act as in-game tokens with specific utility. No official liquidity will be created from them, and the tokens will have no inherent value beyond their gameplay utilization. The price of the resources will be dynamic and depend on various supply and demand forces.
RiskFi & Microwagering
A sustainable GameFi model
The GOB gaming ecosystem is driven by a concept we call the RiskFi model. Before diving into its details, here's a quick introduction to the underlining philosophy:
The Evolution of Play-2-Earn
The Play-2-Earn models often operate by having players acquire assets, play the game and earn a token or other NFTs with no risk attached. The problem with this model is that there are only winners and no losers. This issue is compounded by the fact that there is often a constant influx of new supply entering the market, out of the inflationary pools of assets, that was never paid for. This results in never-ending supply pressure that dilutes the value of each token and creates a Pay-to-Earn scenario where players with more assets have an advantage in the ecosystem. As a result, most Play-2-Earn projects that launched during the last cycle have ceased to exist.
RiskFi, the Alternative
The concept of risk is rooted in the economic principle that for a reward to exist, some risk must be involved. In the GameFi industry, the RiskFi model offers an additional dimension, a more sustainable alternative to the common Play-2-Earn models prevalent in many GameFi projects.
The RiskFi model operates on the principle of a game that is zero-sum, similar to trading. In each trade, there is a winner and a loser. In this model, both players must risk a wager sum, and upon winning the match, the winner takes the risked sum away from the loser. This creates a sustainable system where the same escrowed bounty continues to be exchanged back and forth between players, creating a constant demand and trading volume for the token, whether it’s buying to risk or selling the reward.
Ecosystem Integration
Usually, there is a house tax or administrative fee at the game level. We have decided to fully embrace Web3 and introduce a wrapper with a taxation system that operates at the token level.
The $GOB token’s smart contract was not designed to collect taxes. By assigning it a community-driven utility, we needed to introduce a secondary ecosystem token and release the entire supply on the market using a fair launch system. The overall idea for the tax is that it is high while the token is at a small valuation to support the upstart in liquidity, and it decreases as its market cap increases. Its tokenomics and taxation system make it attractive for both investors and gamers using it as an in-game utility asset to make skill-based wagers.
As our ecosystem is a Web2/Web3 hybrid, it allows the opportunity for players to participate in their PvP TCG battles off-chain for free. However, for players wanting to earn, we are opening the opportunity to wager against each other in a RiskFi system or microwagering.
Why Microwagering?
The goal is to make the game attractive to all market participants, regardless of their financial standing. There are no minimum or maximum limits to wager. Each player chooses a token tier to wager and waits for an opponent willing to match within that tier. Once both players agree and sign their transactions, the amounts are combined, sent to an escrow account, and the game starts. Upon the game’s result, the combined amount becomes available to be claimed by the winner.
Arbitrum - Ethereum Layer 2
The token supporting the microwagering utility in GOB's games is meant to be a DEX-only token launched on Ethereum’s popular L2 network, Arbitrum. This Layer-2 blockchain makes the token accessible to micro-participants due to extremely low gas fees. It becomes easy to trade and easy to use for microwagering purposes. The tax proceeds cover several economic voids created due to restructuring the $GOB token and promoting the psychology of economic sustainability and spending or earning only what is collected in the bank as a result of the trading activity.
NFT Gaming Integration
Players can control their journey through the GOB universe using functional and dynamic digital assets. NFTs are integrated into our games and serve various gameplay purposes while allowing players to retain ownership of their game progress.
Six different sets of NFTs exist in the GOB ecosystem and can be used across the two games.
